Puppy Play and Adventures!
I apologize as I seem to just be perpetually behind when it comes to my journal, it takes awhile to get each part done. It has been quite busy with the older puppies and their training and field trips and the little puppies as I spend time trying to introduce many new things and ideas before 8 weeks as that is the best time for this and is during the puppy imprinting time.

We have done some water play, they have been on their first car ride, crates, new toys and various sized items, keeping up with their grooming, visits around the house, introduction of other dogs, beginning training, different dishes, games we play with blankets and tunnels, etc.

One game I invented and play with the puppies is the “Blanket Game”. I take a big blanket and I fluff it in the air and let it fall on part of the puppies. The ones not covered jump on the blanket and attack all the wiggly humps! The ones who wiggle free turn around and jump on the other puppies and the rest of the wiggly humps. The first couple of times they aren’t sure about this big blanket above them but then they catch on to the game! They get rolled all around when I pick the blanket back up and sometimes I only get it half way back up and then just toss it on the puppies! I always step in and free a puppy stuck too long though sometimes they are not trying to escape but trying to attack the puppies on top of them! It is silly fun but the puppies love it and usually take a nice nap afterwards as it really gets them up and racing all around!

I did take some pictures of this silly game!

The other big event we did with the puppies is I decided to take them out to the property on the 4th of July. One of the hardest things with having puppies is that I am often left at home alone while the family is out having fun and often that fun is out camping/boating at our property on the Sound. It really can be a bummer being left out of these family events and after much deliberation I decided that I didn’t want to spend the whole 4th weekend alone. I packed up supplies, puppies, big puppies, and headed out to the property for a short visit and dinner. We set up some x-pens, put down lots of blankets, toys, even a potty pool. The puppies had a great time, they kept digging the blankets aside to try and get to the grass. I put some concrete pieces on the ends which they thought were new chew toys! The raced around and didn’t seem bothered in the least little bit with the big scenery change.

My kids had friends coming so there were people coming and going, the older puppies were racing around as well as Mindy and Andy, so lots of things for them to see. Some early fireworks going off but they weren’t bothered by that either. After dinner (cooked over a camp fire) and before it got dark, I packed the puppies up and headed home. The rest of the family and friends were staying for more camp fire food, smors, and fireworks.

The puppies did great traveling in the car, a few little fussers but mostly the slept. After they got home they raced around their puppy room, had a big meal, pooped a lot (I think they saved it all day!), and played some more. By 9:45 they were all sacked out and oblivious to all the loud booms starting up. I did turn on the TV to muffle the booms, we have a lot of fireworks in our area, and shut the doors as I put the puppies to bed. Even the older puppies were tired and ready for bed. I was definitely tired out myself!

Here are some pictures of the puppies out at the property.
